Several years ago I read an article about nested poems and found that this form suits me. It allows me to have a journey with each poem, not knowing how it is going to end. I love the “aha’s” that I discover as the poem unfolds. The poem becomes a meditation and a discovery. I thought I would share one with you. For me, the key to writing a nested poem is in having a great first line. The rest will take care of itself.
My life is living itself around me
My life is living itself
around me I flounder as I search
My life is living itself
around me I flounder
as I search I question my sincerity
My life is living itself
around me I flounder
as I search I question
my sincerity is not the culprit here
My life is living itself
around me I flounder
as I search I question
my sincerity is not the culprit
here I ask how do I want to be seen
My life is living itself
around me I flounder
as I search I question
my sincerity is not the culprit
here I ask how
do I want to be seen in my essence
My life is living itself
around me I flounder
as I search I question
my sincerity is not the culprit
here I ask how
do I want to be seen
in my essence I yearn to shine
My life is living itself
around me I flounder
as I search I question
my sincerity is not the culprit
here I ask how
do I want to be seen
in my essence I yearn
to shine I must remember who I am
My life is living itself
around me I flounder
as I search I question
my sincerity is not the culprit
here I ask how
do I want to be seen
in my essence I yearn
to shine I must remember
who I am is waiting to soar
Who I am is waiting to soar
to shine I must remember
in my essence I yearn
do I want to be seen
here I ask how
my sincerity is not the culprit
as I search I question
around me I flounder
My life is living itself.
