This is one of my favorite days of the year – the day that our magnolia tree is in full bloom! It has a beautiful shape and smells great. The petals have a unique texture. The petals look delicate and yet when you feel them, they are thick and a little bit waxy, but velvety too. The flowers only last a few days so I am enjoying every moment by writing on my porch so I can drink in the view. It’s one of those perfect days – sunny, almost 80 degrees with a very slight breeze. Time to savor the moment.
I look forward to this day all year, hoping that the wind and rain won’t blow off the petals before they have a chance to fully bloom. I wonder if this magnolia and the anticipation of its blooming might be a life lesson. What if I gave the same level of importance to those daily joys as I did to the yearly blooming of the magnolia? I wonder what might change.
